DESCRIPTION:In 1774, the Maryland Convention resolved that men should form themselves into militia companies for the defense of the province. These companies would form across all of Maryland including Carroll (then Frederick County) and would serve in various capacities throughout the American War for Independence. Join us for a look into the men and service of Jacob Good’s Company from Taneytown, that would most famously serve in the Flying Camps of 1776 during the battles for New York, from their formation in 1774 through the end of hostilities in 1783.\nSean Considine is an independent researcher, educator, and presenter focusing on the events and politics surrounding the American Revolution. He has partnered and collaborated with Minuteman National Historical Park, Museum of the American Revolution, Old Barracks Association, Fort Loudoun Historical Society, Lewes Historical Society, among others, providing educational programming, historical interpretation, and lectures. Mr. Considine leads the recreated 17th Regiment of Infantry and is one of the Co-Coordinators of the Boston Garrison. He grew up in Carroll County, which stemmed his interest in local involvement in the region’s involvement in the American Revolution.
