Carroll 250 Liberty Tree Planting
The Carroll 250 Planning Committee, in partnership with the Union Mills Homestead and the City of Westminster, invites the public to dedicate one of two Carroll 250 Liberty Trees at Union Mills Homestead on October 12th 1pm.
The tree being dedicated comes from the Allegany County Forestry Board which collected seed from a scion (graft) of the original Maryland historic Liberty Tree, a tulip poplar that stood at the site of St. John’s College in Annapolis, Maryland. Liberty Trees were planted and dedicated throughout the 13 colonies as a symbol of hope and freedom.
Carroll County’s second 250 Liberty Tree was recently planted at Westminster City Hall.
