Strategic Action Plan

From the summer of 2025 to summer of 2026, the Historical Society of Carroll County secured pledges for a total of $670,500 for capital improvements to position the Society for programmatic growth. 

HSCC’s forthcoming 2027-2029 Strategic Action Plan will be modeled after the 2023-2025 Plan, but its core theme will be strengthening outreach, enhancing events and programs, and expanding high-quality educational opportunities for children and youth. Key initiatives in the 2027-2029 plan include:

  • Completing our Where the Servant’s Stairs Lead initiative in the Shellman House (see featured projects online) 
  • Completing upgrades to the Auditorium kitchen for events, programs, and rentals (see featured projects online)
  • Expanding resources on our Digital Library and Collections Hub
  • Expanding county-wide programs, events, and educational initiatives
  • Growing the HSCC endowment fund

2023-2025 Strategic Action Plan

Dear Society Members, Supporters and Friends,

On behalf of the Board of Trustees of the Historical Society of Carroll County, I am pleased to share with you the enclosed HSCC 2023-2025 Strategic Action Plan. Thank you for your constructive feedback and commitment to the mission of HSCC. The Plan is a living document and the Board of Trustees is committed to reviewing it often and updating it regularly.

I am also thrilled to report that our annual fund goal was surpassed this year! The Society reached $63,810, an extraordinary feat! In the fall, HSCC will again kick-off its annual appeal after the annual meeting of the membership on October 31st 11:30am at Best Western Westminster.

Another great event in the fall is the Society’s annual Bluegrass, Bourbon and Bocce on September 10th 4-7pm held at Union Mills Homestead. Mark your calendars and keep your eyes out for the invitation postcard this summer.

Finally, if you are not yet “officially” a member, now is the time to join. The final page of the Strategic Action Plan highlights HSCC membership and the easiest way to join.
