2024 Annual Meeting – The Pages in the Pocket: Decoding an 1880s Mystery Message

Mark your calendar for this year’s Annual Meeting of the membership on October 29, doors will open at 11:30 a.m., lunch will be served at 12 p.m. The meeting will take place at the Best Western Conference Center, 451 WMC Drive, Westminster. A hot buffet and dessert will be provided by Santoni’s Marketplace and Catering followed by Society business and the event’s keynote speaker. Our third annual Distinguished Awards and Volunteer of the Year recognition will also be presented. We will honor Doug Velnoskey and Mary Ann Ashcraft, two extraordinary champions of Carroll County history and the Society. Our volunteer of the year Belva LaMotte will also be recognized.

This year we will hear from Sara Rivers Cofield, Maryland Archaeological Conservation LaboratorySara will speak about the antique dress she found in a shop in Maine and the mystery that unfolded around the dress.

The menu will include roasted chicken, baked ziti, roasted rosemary potatoes, and roasted vegetable medley with yellow and chocolate cupcakes for dessert. Individuals wishing to pay by check may reserve their spot early by mailing payment to HSCC, attention Jason Illari. Cost is $40 for members, $50 for non-members. Reservations and payments need to be received by October 18.
