Carroll 250 Event: The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall
Greetings from MPT! You may remember it from MPT’s LZ Maryland event at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in TImonium in June 2016. Now the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall (R) returns with a stay in New Windsor, MD (Carroll County), in October.
The New Windsor Fire Dept. carnival grounds (next to the fire station at 101 High Street) is the host site for the display. The wall is open to the public starting 6 pm on Thurs., Oct. 9 and staying open ’round the clock until 11 am on Mon., Oct. 13. As you know, the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall is a 3/5 scale of the Vietnam Memorial in Washington, standing six feet tall at the center and covering almost 300 feet from end to end. The wall bears the names of more than 58,000 men and women, serving as a reminder of the ultimate sacrifices made during the Vietnam War. This free event is open to the public.
The wall’s visit actually starts at 5 pm on Oct. 9 with a Voice of Veterans live concert, featuring 45 minutes of Vietnam-era music performed by a veterans group. The 6 pm opening ceremony features Lt. Col. Oliver North.
