HSCC is thrilled to announce the hire of Laura Bankard to the role of Outreach and Events Director. Bankard begins August 7th, 2023. Laura will be instrumental in implementing many initiatives outlined in the Society’s 2023-2025 Strategic Action Plan, and will be the primary lead on outreach, events, rentals, social media and marketing, volunteer coordination and many other duties.
Bankard is well-known in the community, having worked in Carroll County for many years. She volunteered and worked at Manchester Elementary School for over twelve years. Her most recent position was Executive Assistant at Target Community & Educational Services, Inc., a role which she held for six years. She is President of the Kiwanis Club of Westminster and has volunteered for the Society and its events for the past five years. Through Kiwanis, she has also worked closely with the City of Westminster’s Recreation & Parks.
History has been her love and passion since she was a child. Bankard notes that her father would often say; “History is a kaleidoscope – new information can cause the story to change and morph into a new tale.” The Society is thrilled to fill this position at a critical point in time for the organization, especially with the Society’s 85th anniversary approaching in 2024.
