HSCC was thrilled to hold its 8th annual Gala, Emerging Stronger, on April 23rd at the award-winning Antrim 1844 in Taneytown. Over 150 friends of Carroll County history “emerged” and it was evening to remember. Dinner, dancing and visiting with cherished friends was long-overdue. The event’s success would not have been possible without the help of Sponsors, Board and Committee Members, Society Staff and Volunteers and the spectacularly professional team at Antrim 1844.

2022’s event raised an astounding $120,000! Here is a breakdown by the numbers:

Sponsors/Donations       $56,320

Live Auction                       $11,550

Silent Auction                    $11,215

Ticket sales                         $14,943

Gift for the Cause             $26,935

Total Expenses                 $44,813

In 2022 and 2021, the Society’s Gift for the Cause was focused on raising needed funds for crucial repairs at the Shellman House. Extensive brick, window and roofing repairs require immediate attention. This year’s $26,935 will be added to last year’s $24,000, bringing us to a grand total of $50,935. These Shellman Gift for the Cause funds are now in a special account, and will be exclusively used to match a State grant for Shellman in the amount $40,000.

As work on Shellman commences this summer, HSCC staff will regularly update the Society’s blog with photos, videos and progress reports. We look forward to sharing our progress with you in the months to come!

Thank you to all who supported 2022’s Gala. We look forward to seeing you again at Antrim 1844! Mark your calendars for Saturday April 29th 2023!
