Thanks to the generosity of our members, and annual gala attendees, the Society successfully closed out the fundraising phase of its Shellman Work Project in 2022 after three years of fundraising. $56,000 currently in hand will be matched with a $40,000 Maryland State Bond grant to address major brick deterioration, water infiltration, and interior plaster repair. Funds will also be used to temporarily move and store items while work is being completed. Our next step is to finalize our work plan and drawings with architect Dean Camlin to be able to submit the required change of easement form with the Maryland Historical Trust by February of this year. Once approved by the Trust, our goal is to commence work on Shellman during the spring and summer months of 2023. Proper planning is key, and we thought readers would like to see drafts of the work drawings as part of this update. A big thank you to Dean and his team for all of their hard work and expertise! We will let the membership know when the plans are approved by the Maryland Historical Trust with another blog to be posted in the coming months.
